Mariah Carey Is Having Twins:

MARIAH CAREY is having twins.  NICK CANNON announced it yesterday on his radio show.  But we're not the first to know.  That honor went to BARACK and MICHELLE OBAMA. Cannon said he and Mariah ran into the Obamas backstage at the taping of TNT's "Christmas in Washington" on Sunday night, and they actually ASKED if they were having twins. He said, quote, "At this point she hadn't told anybody anything because doctors advised us to keep it to ourselves until we get further along. And because of the excitement, because of the emotion, she was overwhelmed [and] she shared with the President and First Lady that we are having twins." (--"Christmas in Washington" airs TONIGHT.  Here's the audio of Nick's announcement . . .)

LIL' KIM: Shooting a Video for Nicki Diss

Lil' Kim shooting a video for "Black Friday," her Nicki Minaj diss-track, in Brooklyn early yesterday morning. Clearly, she isn't over it yet. In a video posted on YouTube, she also hints that her next single will be a track called "Clap Clap." Check out some behind the scenes footage here. (Warning -- video contains expletives.)

DMX: Back to Jail for a Year...For Having a Drink

DMX has had his probation revoked and is heading to prison for one year. An
Arizona court issued the ruling yesterday after his arrest last month for drinking at a Scottsdale club during a performance -- which violated his probation. He also allegedly failed to submit to drug testing and drove on a suspended license. X was placed on probation last year after being convicted of assaulting a prison guard, and theft for trying to using a fake name to get out of paying a $7,500 hospital bill.

MARIAH CAREY: High Notes Make Happy Goats

What's the perfect gift for the goat on your holiday list? Try a copy of Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You."British farmer Angus Wielkopolski tells Britain's Express that his goats have been giving loads more milk since they started in on a steady diet of Mimi, saying, "We are absolutely dumbfounded by the difference playing this song has made to the goats. They seem to perk up when [it comes] on. The staff here are sick of it now but unfortunately it works for the goats."

DIDDY: Under Fire After Model's Hair Catches Fire

The London Hotel in New York City is upset with Diddy for Tuesday's unwanted exposure -- a video of a model's hair catching fire at his album party there. The incident violates hotel regulations and he may be banned permanently from the hotel. They're also concerned because they have a lot of high-profile clients and they don't want Puff's pyro-antics to scare away any potential guests.

LADY GAGA: Little Drummer Girl

Lady Gaga continued her streak of surprise appearances Wednesday night in London, where she joined her old pals Semi Precious Weapons at a tiny club gig. She played drums and added backing vocals to several songs, stripping off her red leather jacket partway through to reveal a matching red leather bra. The folks from Gaga's fan club captured the whole shebang on video. Warning: Video contains expletives

ARETHA FRANKLIN: Discusses Recovery With Jet

Aretha Franklin shared a few more details of her recovery with Jet, a leading African-American magazine. The Queen of Soul says she's "feeling great" and has been told by her doctors to "do whatever I feel like I am up to do." But she then seemed to contradict what we heard earlier in the week, when Aretha expressed interest in seeing a couple of plays in Detroit. "Of course, that doesn't mean any concerts or anything like that. But I can do things around the house, and today I am just piddling around the house." She's been told she'll need around eight weeks to recover from the December 2nd surgery. And she promises to soon reveal more about her illness shortly.  Patti LaBelle, at a New York charity function, says Franklin told her two weeks ago she had pancreatic cancer. LaBelle is annoyed that before the diagnosis was revealed, some people had joked her weight loss was the result of liposuction gone wrong. "I know the lady is suffering. I lit a candle for her at a cathedral, and you pray for Aretha Franklin now."

NICK, VANESSA NOT GETTING MARRIED THIS YEAR

It won't be a wedding under the Tuscan sun for Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo after all. After Nick hinted earlier this week that the couple might marry on a New Year's Eve trip overseas, Vanessa has set the record straight. She tells Hollyscoop, "He was joking. We're not getting married in Italy. I think that's the game of telephone, he said it sarcastically." She adds that they still don't know where they'll wed.

KEVIN SPACEY AVOIDS COMING OUT

If you're still waiting for Kevin Spacey to come out of the closet, then you're about to be disappointed. In an interview with The Daily Beast, the actor, whose sexuality has long been the subject of gossip, was asked why he hasn't admitted to being gay. Spacey said, "Look, I might have lived in England for the last several years, but I'm still an American citizen and I have not given up my right to privacy." Though he said he'll never discuss his sexuality, he did leave a hint, saying, "Look, at the end of the day people have to respect people's differences. I am different than some people would like me to be."

MARIAH CAREY: Joining Oprah on the Straight and Narrow

Mariah Carey and Oprah Winfrey have more in common than their big bank accounts. Mimi has gone on the record to say that -- like the talk show queen -- she is not a lesbian. She tells the gay mag the Advocate, "If it makes somebody happy to say that, then whatever, but that's not the reality. I don't have a discriminatory policy of who I'm friends with, so yes, I'm friends with women who are gay. So I don't get upset when I hear that, because it is what it is. I guess I could lie about it to seem more exciting."

ARETHA FRANKLIN: Home From Hospital

Aretha Franklin said yesterday that she's home after being released from the hospital several days ago. The Queen of Soul is being taken care by a private nurse as well as family and friends. And she'd like to catch the touring company of Dreamgirls before it ends its Detroit run later this month. Franklin remains mum on the nature of her recent surgery, which was reportedly to remove a cancerous tumor from either her pancreas or bladder.

LADY GAGA: Time for a Fashion Nod

She didn't make the cut as Person of the Year, but Lady Gaga did top one of Time magazine's year-end lists. The mag named her infamous meat dress the Number-One Fashion Statement of the year, noting, "If making fashion statements is your primary raison d'etre, it's easy to get bored. Exploding bra? Flamed out. Dress made of bubbles? Please. But a dress made of meat -- with shoes, hat and purse to match -- well, that's fresh." Rihanna made the short list with the Gumby-styled outfit she wore to Germany's Echo Awards, and M.I.A.'s Scream Awards burqa also gained notice.

DIDDY: Never Been Married

Diddy insists he's a great father, but why hasn't he settled down with any of three baby mamas? Earlier this week on The View, he honestly stated that he doesn't know why he's never gotten married. He revealed that he met all three of his children's mothers in the same year and would run to each of them for comfort when another had broken his heart. He said, "I think that every woman that I was with, that I had a child with, did deserve for me to marry them. But there's things that were going on in my life."

FACEBOOK'S MARK ZUCKERBERG: TIME's Person of the Year

Everyone seems to be on Facebook, and the social network's founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg seems to be everywhere. His story is on the big-screen in The Social Network, he's on TV in an interview on 60 Minutes -- and now, he's on the cover of TIME as the magazine's Person of the Year.

In explaining why the 26-year-old received the nod, the magazine's Richard Stengel notes that Zuckerberg's one year older than the magazine's first Person of the Year, Charles Lindbergh -- "another young man who used technology to bridge continents." Stengel goes on to write Zuckerberg received the honor "for connecting more than half a billion people and mapping the social relations among them (something that has never been done before); for creating a new system of exchanging information that has become both indispensable and sometimes a little scary; and finally, for changing how we all live our lives in ways that are innovative and even optimistic."
